Runk & Pratt And The Willard Companies Announce Plans For Smith Mountain Lake’s First Assisted Living and Retirement Facility

Smith Mountain Lake, Va., (March 30, 2007) Runk and Pratt will build an assisted living and retirement facility in the Westlake area of Smith Mountain Lake. Runk and Pratt have acquired property from Ron Willard of The Willard Companies to build the new Smith Mountain Lake Retirement Village located in the Westlake Towne Center.

“For the past two years, we have been working with Brian and Vickie Runk to establish and build a presence at Westlake Towne Center,” said Ron Willard, President of The Willard Companies. “Based on the ongoing growth in the area combined with Runk and Pratt’s reputation for providing superior services, we’ve concluded that the time is right to take another step and bring an assisted living facility at Smith Mountain Lake,” said Willard.

“We’ve been looking at this for some time, in much the same way as we watched the growth in Bedford County and Lynchburg markets” said Brian and Vickie Runk, President / Owners of Runk & Pratt, which currently owns and operates locations in both Lynchburg at 20212 Leesville Road and in Bedford at 812 E. Main Street, and at 208 Gristmill Drive in Forest. “The time is right for Smith Mountain Lake, and area residents are telling us this is what they want,” said the Runks.

Set on 25 acres, this state of the art facility is designed with plenty of room to meet the demands of anticipated Residential Growth and Building Expansion. April 2007 marks the Ground-Breaking date of the 4th Residential Adult Care Facility from Runk & Pratt with a scheduled completion date no later than June 2008.

Independent Living

This initial phase will include 14 individual, 2-bedroom cottages, deeded to the purchaser. Each dwelling is 1,954 sq. ft. with a golf cart included to provide access to all that is available at Westlake Town Centre including restaurants, specialty shops, banking, cinema and much more. The owners of these Cottages also have the option of contracting out services such as Maintenance, Meal Plans & Housekeeping, along with Medical Oversight & Medication Management. Not only do these cottages offer a comfortable and easy style of living, manicured landscaping will be attractive whether you enjoy living indoors or out.

Assisted Living, with an Emphasis on Living

The Smith Mountain Lake Residence will offer Assisted Living with 60 Beds In-House. The Willard Companies Announce Latest Residential Development

Smith Mountain Lake, VA (March 29, 2007) – The official ground-breaking at The Farm, Smith Mountain Lake’s newest community, took place this week. Building on a tradition of excellence, The Willard Companies is proud to introduce their latest planned residential development. With a focus on preserving its rural Franklin County setting, The Farm will be the first community development at Smith Mountain Lake to incorporate “Green Building” Technology, which uses environmental friendly building materials and products throughout the home. In addition, the project will feature super high energy efficient designs to help consumers reduce their costs to maintain their homes.

The Farm will feature 63 total properties at its location off Rt. 616 (Scruggs Rd.), across from the esteemed community of The Boardwalk.
