Toys Donated To Toys For Tots

Smith Mountain Lake, VA (December 21, 2005) – The Willard Companies and its subsidiaries including Prudential Waterfront Properties, Smith Mountain Building Supply, Westlake Cinema and The Westlake, The Waterfront and The Water’s Edge Country Clubs, partnered with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots organization for its annual toy drive. Over the course of a five-week campaign, employees, country club members and customers donated  hundreds of new, unwrapped toys which will be distributed as Christmas gifts to needy children in the Smith Mountain Lake, Franklin County and Roanoke Valley communities.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to “collect new, unwrapped toys during November and December each year and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.” According to Ronald L. Willard, President of The Willard Companies, “By partnering with the Toys for Tots organization, our companies goal was to collect as many new toys in order to send a message of hope to needy kids that will encourage them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.” Volunteers for the Toys For Tots organization picked up the toys on Tuesday, December 20 and stored them in central warehouse where the toys are sorted by age and gender. The toys will be distributed on December 23 and 24.

The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charity, is the fund raising and support organization for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. For more information, visit the Foundation’s website at www.toysfortots.org.

Roanoke Valley Associations of REALTORS Names Bitsy Davis President

Roanoke, VA (December 5, 2005) – Bitsy Davis, Sales Associate with Prudential Waterfront Properties, has been elected to serve as President of the Roanoke Valley Association of REALTORS for 2006. Davis was installed at a December 2nd luncheon held at the Hotel Roanoke.

Kathy Nunnally, Sales Associate with Long & Foster South Office was inducted as President-elect. Neil Conner, Sales Director for the Salem office of MKB, REALTORS, was inducted as Vice President.

Newly installed Directors included Wayne Goodman of Barker Realty, Fred Hall of Prudential Radford & Associates and Betty Kingery of Meadow Spring Land & Realty.

The Roanoke Valley Association of REALTORS is comprised of approximately 1,800 REALTOR and Affiliate members in the Roanoke Valley area. It is one of more than 1,750 Associations of REALTORS nationwide that make up the National Association of REALTORS, the nation’s largest trade association.

March of Dimes Honors Ron Willard With Star Real Estate Award

Smith Mountain Lake, VA (Decebmer 3, 2004) – The March of Dimes held it’s annual breakfast on December 1, 2004 at the Wyndham Roanoke Airport Hotel, and presented Ronald L. Willard the “Star Real Estate” award.


According to Gabrielle Niccum, Division Board Chair of the The March of Dimes – Greater Blue Ridge Division, “This is a preeminent event for the real estate community. The March of Dimes Annual Real Estate Award honors outstanding individuals and companies whose commercial real estate activities have significantly enhanced our community.” Over 60 business colleagues from the Greater Blue Ridge Division attended the Real Estate Award breakfast to network and pay tribute to Mr. Ronald L. Willard. Guest speakers included Congressman Virgil Goode, Vicki Gardner, Executive Director of the Smith Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce, and Michael Warner.


Willard was recognized for thirty-two years of dedicated service to the industry and our communities and for being the largest developer on Smith Mountain Lake. During his career, he has developed three master-planned communities, two golf courses and a commercial shopping center complex. Willard was nominated by the Roanoke Valley Association of REALTORS and the Roanoke Regional Homebuilders Association. Sam Lionberger of Lionberger Construction of Roanoke presented Willard with the award and served as master of ceremonies. Lionberger was also the 2003 award recipient.


The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. The March of Dimes carries out this mission through programs of research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies’ lives.
